Oklahoma State and Arizona State are tied atop the Schooner Fall Classic leaderboard after Round 1 at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla. Each shot 13-over 293.
Oklahoma State is competing this week without its top player, Julie Yang, who is in the field at the second stage of LPGA Q-School, to be played Oct. 8-11 in Venice, Fla. Jayde Panos led the Cowgirls’ charge Saturday with a 3-under 67, good enough for the individual lead. Oklahoma State has finished in the top three at each of its first two starts this fall, and was runner-up to USC a week ago at the Windy City Collegiate.
Arizona State’s low scores came from Justine Lee (71) and Laura Blanco (72). Blanco aced the par-3 11th for her first career hole-in-one.
LSU is third, two shots behind the leaders, with Florida State another shot behind that. Kent State, undefeated in two events so far this season, is tied for fifth with Denver at 18-over 298.
