Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are set to square off in “The Match at Mission Hills” in China at midnight on Back9Network on Oct. 28.
Both Woods and McIlroy’s caddies will wear microphones during the match for inside-the-ropes sounds from two of the top professionals in the game.
Last year, it was “Duel at Jinsha Lake,” where fans saw McIlroy take home the title with a bogey-free 67, just edging the No. 1 player in the world.
The last time we saw Woods in action was at The Presidents Cup where he went 4-1 that week at Muirfield Village against the International team. McIlroy, the sixth-ranked player in the world, played in the Kolon Korean Open and finished second on Oct. 20.
Before their much anticipated match, Woods, McIlroy and 15-year-old Guan Tianlang, the amateur who made headlines at the Masters, will play in a skills challenge. The trio will hit ball into targets set at 50, 100 and 125 yards as a warm up. Tianlang finished T-8 at the Asia-Pacific Amateur on Oct. 27 after winning the title in 2012.
