The South Florida Bulls picked up its first win of the season at The Invitational at Kiawah on Tuesday. The 24th-ranked team in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings won by four shots over South Alabama at The Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, S.C.
In a tie for third was Kentucky and No. 6-ranked Georgia at 12-over 876. Georgia Southern rounded out the top five at 33 over.
Senior Richard James led the Bulls by tying for second at 6-under 210, and sophomore Chase Koepka finished in a tie for fifth at 2 under.
Georgia senior Joey Garber, who was playing as an individual, won medalist honors for the first time in his career. Garber shot rounds of 73-66-68 for a three-shot victory. His second round 6-under 66 matched the tournament record set by South Florida’s Branden Collins in 2011. It is also his new career-low round.
In second was James and Western Carolina’s J.T. Poston at 210.
