World No. 1 Inbee Park became the first South Korean player on the LPGA to wrap up Rolex Player of the Year honors Nov. 17. She finished fourth at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational and earned enough points entering this week’s CME Group Titleholders to claim the award.
“I said all year, there should have been at least two or three girls that already won the award, but nobody really did it,” Park said. “It’s just really hard to believe, and I’m just very lucky I won.”
Park, 25, won six times in 2013 – and generated Grand Slam buzz when she became the second player in LPGA history, the first in the modern era, to win the first three majors of the season.
With $2,393,513 earned, Park sits atop the 2013 LPGA official money list marking 2013 the second-consecutive year Park crossed the $2 million mark in single-season earnings. She ranks 18th on the LPGA career money list with $7,661,237.
