McIlroy has turf invaded by Man U's Rooney

Fresh off an Australian Open win isn’t a bad time for a sponsor to debut a commercial featuring a top golfer.

But for a (pardon the American expression) soccer ball?

Set to none other than Bing Crosby’s “Straight Down the Middle,” Rory McIlroy indeed takes to a golf course – introduced with playing partner and Manchester United footballer Wayne Rooney. McIlroy knocks his first shot on the green, followed by Rooney kicking a new Ordem ball onto the green and hitting the pin.

Despite Rooney matching McIlroy’s shotmaking ability for much of the ad (which touts the flight control of the Ordem ball), the modified match is seemingly determined by a heads-up assist after an errant shot heads into the clubhouse gallery where Ronaldo is standing. The video reportedly was filmed in Cheshire.

Naturally, Crosby’s crooning is a fitting choice for the soundtrack, as he was tied for decades to the PGA Tour’s AT&T National Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
