Kent State, led by seniors Taylor Pendrith and Corey Conners, will look for a repeat at the General Hackler Championship Monday through Tuesday at the TPC of Myrtle Beach (S.C.).
Pendrith was co-medalist last year, and Conners finished runner up as the Golden Flashes shared the title with Arkansas.
This year’s field features a host of top-100 teams in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, including: Coastal Carolina (No. 88), Duke (No. 82), East Carolina (No. 78), East Tennessee State (No. 57), Iowa State (No. 47), Kent State (No. 22), Lamar (No. 87), Louisville (No. 52), Middle Tennessee State (No. 73), North Carolina (No. 64), Northern Illinois and UNC-Wilmington (No. 84).
“We’ve seen the course and obviously we’ve had some success there, so that will help us,” Kent State head coach Herb Page said in a release. “Obviously playing a TPC course is something special. You know it will be difficult and in great condition. And when you look at the field, we are going to face some stout competition.”
