Auburn wins Tiger Invitational for 2nd spring win

Auburn notched its second victory of the spring, capturing the Tiger Invitational on Tuesday at Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, Ala.

The 30th-ranked Tigers carded a final-round, 10-under 278 to finish at 22-under 842, 19 shots better than runner-up Kennesaw State.

Jacksonville State’s Tomasz Anderson won for the fourth time in his collegiate career, taking medalist honors by a shot over Mississippi State’s Chad Ramey. Anderson shot 2-under 70 Tuesday to finish at 10-under 206.

Niclas Carlsson (third), Daniel Stringfellow (fourth) and Jake Mondy (eighth) all finished in the top 10 for Auburn. Western Carolina’s J.T. Poston, the 18th-ranked player in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, tied for fifth.

The event was sponsored by former Auburn player and PGA Tour pro Jason Dufner.
