Texas Tech women capture Briar’s Creek Invitational

With the Texas Tech men’s team winning the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate Tuesday, the Red Raiders’ women’s team earned a victory of their own at the Briar’s Creek Invitational in Johns Island, S.C.

Texas Tech, ranked 63rd in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, was the only team to shoot under par in Tuesday’s final round (2-under 286) and finished the tournament at 24-over 888, four shots ahead of runner-up and 71st-ranked Penn State.

No. 15 Clemson finished fifth, 11 shots back.

Penn State’s Christina Vosters shot a final-round, 4-under 68 to capture medalist honors at 1-under 215. South Florida’s Ashley Burke, Maryland’s Alexandria Papell and Coastal Carolina’s Lena Schaeffner tied for second, two shots back.
