South Carolina sealed a win at the Ping/ASU Invitational after going low in the second round. The Gamecocks took a six stroke win, thanks, in part, to an 8-under 280 on Saturday at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempa, Ariz.
South Carolina, the No. 12 team in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, finished at 11-under 853, led by Samantha Swinehart, who finished in a tie for third at 5 under.
No. 9 Washington, No. 6 Arizona State and No. 3 Duke tied for second at 5 under, and No. 8 Arizona rounded at the top five at 4 over.
Duke sophomore Celine Boutier, the No. 10 individual in Golfweek’s rankings, took medalist honors after finishing at 8-under 208. She shot sub-70 rounds on Friday and Saturday and finished up with a 70 on Sunday.
The win was the second of the season for South Carolina, which will head to the SEC Championship next.
