Third-ranked Duke stretched its lead to three shots Friday at the ACC Championship, recording a 1-over 285 to move to 8-over 576 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
Sophomore Celine Boutier, who is looking for her third straight individual victory, shot a second-round, 2-under 69 to take a three-shot lead at 2-under 140.
“I played really well so I am glad I shot under par because I hit it close to the pin and then my putting was much better than (Thursday),” Boutier said. “I feel like the last five holes you can make birdies. The two par 5s are reachable. I am really glad that I managed to birdie those on the way in.”
Florida State’s Matilda Castren, who is also searching for a third straight win, is second individually at 1-over 143. Duke, the two-time defending conference champion, also has Yu Liu (fifth), Sandy Choi (sixth) and Laetitia Beck (T-7) in the top 10.
Virginia is second at 22-over 590 while North Carolina (597), Miami (599) and North Carolina State (600) rounds out the top five teams.
