Iowa’s final-round 14-under 274 helped it surge to a win at the Boilermaker Invitational Sunday.
The Hawkeyes, ranked No. 38 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, topped No. 7 Illinois by one stroke at the Kampen Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ind. They finished at 1-over 865 for the 54-hole event.
Steven Ihm fueled Iowa’s comeback with an 8-under 64 on Sunday, seizing medalist honors. Ihm’s 64 was the low round for the tournament, and Iowa’s 274 was the only round in the 270s for a team over the weekend.
No. 15 UCLA (7 over), Louisville (11 over) and Ohio State (15 over) rounded out the top five.
The win was Iowa’s second on the year. The Hawkeyes play next at the Big Ten Championships in French Lick, Ind.
