Jordan Niebrugge will go for back-to-back titles in the final U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship – and will be the first golfer to attempt back-to-back wins at the event since 2009, according to the USGA.
The sophomore at Oklahoma State has filed his entry into the tournament and will defend his title at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan., July 14-19. Niebrugge, who missed the cut at the Masters after his Public Links win had earned him a spot.
A win would make Niebrugge the first multi-year winner since Ryan Moore (2002, 2004). Last year, Niebrugge defeated former California Golden Bears standout Michael Kim 1 up in the 36-hole final at the Laurel (Va.) Hill Golf Club last year.
