On verge of No. 1, Scott commits to Colonial

On the verge of taking over the World No. 1 ranking, Adam Scott has committed to playing next week’s Crowne Plaza Invitational, the PGA Tour announced Thursday.

Also committing is Dustin Johnson, who shot 1-under 69 today to open the HP Byron Nelson Championship and started the week ranked No. 14 in the OWGR. Scott is not playing this week as the Associated Press has reported he will take the top spot from Tiger Woods. In the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, Scott is No. 2 and Johnson No. 26.

Among the players Scott and Johnson are expected to join in Fort Worth, Texas: Jason Dufner, Rickie Fowler, Jim Furyk and Matt Kuchar. Those players are listed on the tournament’s website though the field is not yet final.
