Sam Burns of Shreveport, La., and Andrea Lee of Hermosa Beach, Calif. won their respective divisions at the Rolex Tournament of Champions on Friday.
Burns, a LSU commit for 2015, shot a 4-under 68 in the final round to win by three shots at Richland Country Club in Nashville, Tenn. An eagle hole out on the par-5 15th and an 8-footer on 18 propelled Burns to his first AJGA invitational victory.
Both Adam Wood of Zionsville, Ind., and Collin Morikawa of La Canada Flintridge, Calif., shot 8-under 64 in the final round. Wood, a Duke signee, finished in second, while Morikawa a class-of-2015 graduate, finished in third.
Texas-bound Doug Ghim finished in solo fourth at 16-under 272 and William Register of Burlington, N.C., finished in fifth another two shots back.
Lee, No. 1 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Rankings, shot rounds of 71-69-67-70 for an 11-under 277 total. She capped off her first invitational victory with an eight-stroke victory. Prior to her win, she accumulated 12 top-10 finishes in AJGA invitationals.
Finishing in a tie for second was Alice Jo of China and Robynn Ree of Redondo Beach, Calif., at 3-under 285. Rounding out the top 5 was Mariel Galdiano of Pearl City, Hawaii, and Shannon Brooks of Vienna, Va., at 2 under.
