Rule ousts Seabolt in playoff for Dogwood title

Trey Rule outlasted Zach Seabolt in a two-hole playoff to capture the 2014 Dogwood Invitational Saturday at Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta.

Rule, a rising senior at Mercer, and Seabolt, a rising sophomore at Winthrop, each finished 72 holes at 21 under after Seabolt birdied the 18th hole and Rule bogeyed. Clemson junior Billy Kennerly finished third.

In the playoff, after opening pars at No. 1, Seabolt’s drive at the 18th clipped a tree. Rule made par at the 18th to capture the title.
