Tiger Woods is set to make his fifth appearance in the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge, an event at Turning Stone Resort Casino on Aug. 27 sponsored by the charitable foundation of Woods’ former Stanford teammate, the Oneida Indian Nation announced Monday.
The charitable tournament takes place in Verona, N.Y., the Wednesday after The Barclays, the PGA Tour’s first event in the FedEx Cup playoffs – and two days before the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Whether the NB3 Foundation Challenge puts a squeeze on Woods’ schedule remains to be seen. Amid a season that has seen him lose time to microdiscectomy surgery, Woods dropped to 215th in FedEx Cup points after not playing in last week’s RBC Canadian Open. The top 125 in FedEx Cup points play in The Barclays in Paramus, N.J.; 100 players then advance to the Deutsche Bank near Boston.
In his fifth NB3 Foundation Challenge, Woods will team with Begay, Jason Dufner and Jimmy Walker to take on Jonas Blixt, Angel Cabrera and Louis Oosthuizen and a fourth international player to be determined.
