Report: Tour to unveil new strokes-gained stat

The PGA Tour is set to add another statistical category to its list of golf metrics.

A new strokes gained-tee to green category – a statistic created by Mark Broadie, a professor at Columbia University – is set to debut Monday, according to a report by Golf Digest. Broadie also developed the strokes-gained putting statistic, which was adopted by the Tour in 2011.

When the statistic is released, it will include data going back to 2008.

The report also said that the Tour plans to add strokes gained-driving and strokes gained-approach shots in 2015.
