Final 2013-14 Golfweek/Sagarin ranking: 35
2013-14 in review: Miami drew attention to itself with a third-place finish (behind UCLA and Arizona State) at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. It was a sign the Hurricanes could compete with the top teams in the nation. Miami continued to contend in tough events but never got a win. The team finished T-5 at the ACC Championship, and missed advancing from the NCAA Central Regional when standout junior Leticia Ras-Anderica was unable to compete that week.
Notable departures: None
Key returners: Dani Darquea, Leticia Ras-Anderica, Kailey Walsh
Newcomers of note: None
Circled on fall calendar: Windy City Collegiate
Fall outlook: The Miami lineup will look identical to last year since all the major players return for another try. Under head coach Patti Rizzo, the Hurricanes are experiencing a resurgence – Miami owns five national titles, the last coming in 1984. Rizzo has expertly gathered an international roster that contains deep talent. Spaniard Ras-Anderica, Ecuador’s Darquea and Boca Raton, Fla., native Walsh will lead, but three more players can contribute low scores.
