A tight approach shot gave Scott Dunlap the advantage he needed to win the Boeing Classic, edging Mark Brooks on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff Sunday in Snoqualmie, Wash.
Brooks had forced the playoff with a back-nine 30 keyed by five straight birdies from Nos. 12-16 and another at the last for a 65. Dunlap, meanwhile, closed out a 68 with one birdie amid six pars down the stretch to get to the clubhouse at 16 under.
In the playoff, Dunlap reached the par-5 18th in two and was less than 5 feet from the pin. Brooks, who had found a fairway bunker off the tee, missed a 30-footer for birdie. Dunlap then two-putted for the winning birdie.
Gene Sauers finished third two shots back, with Tom Pernice Jr. fourth at 13 under.
Fred Couples and Bernhard Langer finished T-15 at 8 under alongside Russ Cochran.
