Preseason rank: 23

Final 2013-14 Golfweek/Sagarin ranking: 20

2013-14 in review: Virginia gained momentum as last season wore on, and the highlight of the year came at the ACC Championship, where the Cavs finished runner-up.

Notable departures: Elizabeth Brightwell, Portland Rosen

Key returnees: Lauren Coughlin, Briana Mao, Lauren Diaz-Yi

Newcomers of note: Lyberty Anderson

Circled on fall calendar: Mason Rudolph

Fall outlook: Virginia’s deep roster will set up a healthy amount of inner-squad competition, which should keep the Cavs sharp. The loss of Brightwell and Rosen hurts – both were strong scorers – but the core of Coughlin, Mao and Diaz-Yi remains. Anderson, who won the Virginia Women’s Amateur in July, will be a good addition.
