When asked to list his children chronologically, Drew Pohalski ducked into his office at Nassau Country Club on Long Island to get his cheat sheet. The head pro emerged with a golf ball that had the initials of all 12 of his kids stamped down the side.

“It just kind of happened, and there didn’t seem to be any end to it,” Pohalski said of his enormous brood. The youngest Pohalski didn’t volunteer at last week’s U.S. Women’s Amateur – hey, at 10 months old, we’ll give baby Thaddeus a pass.

The oldest, 21-year-old Andrew, was one of three Pohalski kids who caddied. Claire, 17, helped in the pro shop, shagged balls in the short-game practice area, and served as a walking scorer along with 14-year-old Emily.

“She could actually go places,” said sister Hannah of Emily’s impressive swing. Hannah, 20, plays golf for Long Island University C.W. Post.

Daddy Drew, 45, said everyone wanted to be involved with the championship, and he was surprised to see Emily so eager to jump into his car at 6 a.m. Tuesday. He has been head pro at Nassau for 15 years and said the club has been great to his family.

Drew’s wife, Elizabeth, home-schools the kids until high school. They have benches around the kitchen table so that everyone can fit, though it’s hard to imagine all 14 Pohalskis are often in the same place at once.

“For now, that’s enough,” Drew told The Forecaddie, though he didn’t sound convincing.
