Austin Ernst captured the LPGA’s Portland Classic in a playoff Sunday at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Ore.
Ernst, who shot a final-round 5-under 67, bogeyed her last two holes in regulation to finish at 14-under 274 for the tournament. South Korea’s I.K. Kim was still on the course, but couldn’t get anything to drop over her final three holes.
Ernst and Kim headed into a playoff on the par-4 18th where the 2011 NCAA individual champion two-putted from 40 feet to collect her first professional win.
This was Ernst’s first top 10 of the season.
Chella Choi and So Yeon Ryu finished in a tie for third at 12 under. Ryu came to the last hole tied with Ernst and Kim at 14 under before finding the water on her approach shot. She double bogeyed her final hole.
