Preseason rank: 5
Final 2013-14 Golfweek/Sagarin ranking: 6
2013-14 in review: Washington’s only stumble in a sea of top finishes was an 11th at the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Victories at the Topy Cup and Silverado Showdown were notable. Washington did not play to its full potential at the NCAA Championship, and finished 17th.
Notable departures: Kelli Bowers
Key returnees: SooBin Kim, Jennifer Yang, Charlotte Thomas, Ying Luo
Newcomers of note: Yan Jing
Circled on fall calendar: Stanford Intercollegiate
Fall outlook: While Washington is loaded with potential, it’s also loaded with uncertainty. Three players entered LPGA Q-School (Kim, Yang and Jing), so postseason success will depend on who comes back after Christmas. That said, Washington enters the fall with all the pieces. The Huskies have been building to this for the past two years, and this could be the best squad yet. Add Jing and sophomore Eimi Koga into the mix of Washington’s four very strong returners, and Washington becomes one of the nation’s most competitive teams.
