Puma Golf releases its TitanTour golf shoe

Puma Golf has announced the launch of its new TitanTouR golf shoe. Golfweek talked with Grant Knudson, head of footwear for Cobra Puma Golf, to discuss the latest technologies used and how the golfer benefits during an upcoming round:

What makes TitanTour the “coolest” shoe in golf as Puma calls it?

First, we have a brand new cooling system called Outlast. It’s revolutionary. We wanted to make the coolest shoe ever for Rickie (Fowler) and Jonas (Blixt) for their progressive, cool style and then we took it literally. With this technology, it regulates your temperature before you get hot or cold. Unlike wicking material, it’s proactive and it doesn’t let you get to the point to where you start sweating. Obviously the technology makes it cool, but we also believe (these are) the coolest-looking shoes we’ve ever made.

What are the newest technologies?

Beside Outlast, we are using ShapeLock technology for the first time. It’s a memory-foam system to customize the shape of any foot. Try and think of this shoe as a mattress. The shoe contours to your foot. The foam is located both in the upper and the insole. It’s just one of the most comfortable shoes you’re ever going to wear.

How will the shoes benefit the golfer throughout their round?

Well, it has many benefits. It’s very lightweight along with the cooling system. It truly comes down to comfort. We tested it on everyone from to the weekend warrior to our tour pros and it was simple, if you’re cooler, you’re more comfortable; the more lightweight it is, the longer you can walk. We wanted to provide the golfer with whatever makes them comfortable. Plus, it’s a good-looking shoe. It goes back to our mantra: look better, feel better and play better to be more confident.

On the premium side of things, it’s 100 percent full-grain ultra-premium leather. Lastly, it’s a cleated shoe and it has a PowerFrame outsole with an EVA midsole for strength and flexibility. It’s the best of both world.

Which PGA Tour players will be wearing the shoes this year?

Rickie Fowler, Jonas Blixt, Will MacKenzie, Jesper Parnevik. This shoe is exactly what our tour players were asking for and now we’ve got them.

The TitanTour is available in seven colors: black/white, white/vibrant orange, white/strong blue, white/gray violet, brown/mustang, white/black and flash, a new color made of reflective material. The shoe is available Feb. 1. Cost: $220.
