Henrik Stenson has pulled out of the Shell Houston Open with the flu, according to his Twitter account. The illness means he also will miss a practice session he had scheduled at Augusta National early this week. He still expects to play the Masters.
Stenson – who had planned an early trip to Augusta before the start of the Houston Open – is coming off of three top 5s in his past three events on the PGA Tour, including a runner-up finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He will turn 39 on Saturday.
In nine starts at the Masters, the Swede’s best finish came last year when he tied for 14th.
