Riley Casey, a 2016 recruit from Abilene, Texas, verbally committed to Oklahoma on March 26.

Casey, who attends Abilene Cooper High, chose the Sooners over Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, TCU and North Texas.

“I had really good offers from a few schools, which made my decision to commit to Oklahoma a tough one,” Casey told Golfweek. “I chose Oklahoma because of the facilities they have for golf and academics. I feel like I made a good connection with coach (Ryan) Hybl and (assistant) coach (Jim) Garren. I’m really impressed with how coach Hybl has turned the men’s golf program around. I’m excited that I will be able to play for him. I feel that Oklahoma will be a good place for me to improve as a player.”

Last summer, Casey won the Goodman Networks Junior, and also finished third at the AJGA Under Armour/Jordan Spieth Championship and the Genesis Shootout. This year, he placed runner-up at the AJGA Under Armour/Hunter Mahan Championship.

Casey is ranked 28th among Romine’s Top 50 boys for the Class of 2016. He is also ranked 88th overall by Golfweek.
