Stanford sophomore Maverick McNealy won the Pac-12 Championship by 10 shots, earning men’s college golf Player of the Week honors.
McNealy capped his 18-under 262 performance at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash., with a final-round 61. His 9-under 61 round set a collegiate course record and tied the single-round school record held by Tiger Woods and Cameron Wilson. McNealy’s 72-hole total of 362 is a Pac-12 Championship record.
The win was the fifth of the season for McNealy, the No. 1 player in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings and a frontrunner for the 2015 Haskins Award.
After his win at the Pac-12 Championship, where he led the Cardinal to their second straight win, McNealy and teammate Viraat Badhwar took the top seed heading into the match play portion of the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship in San Francisco.
