Texas builds lead in search for fourth straight Big 12 title

After 36 holes Texas is on pace to capture its fourth consecutive Big 12 Conference championship after getting out to a seven-shot lead on Friday.

The Longhorns shot a 4-over 292 in the first 18 holes and followed that up with a 5 over to finish the day at 9 over. Oklahoma State is seven back and Texas Tech trails the Cowboys by one in third. Oklahoma is in fourth 19 strokes back of Texas and Kansas State is in fifth at 29 over.

Beau Hossler led the Longhorns with a 2-under 70 after a first round 72 and is tied for the individual lead. Doug Ghim and defending conference champ Scottie Scheffler are each tied for fifth at 2 over.

TCU’s Paul Barjon is tied with Hossler after Barjon posted a 69 in his first round and a 73 in his second round.
Oklahoma State’s Stratton Nolen is two back in third and Kansas State’s Jeremy Gandon is three back.
