EUGENE, Ore. – The tale of Beau Hossler gutting through what appeared to be extraordinary left shoulder pain Tuesday during an NCAA Championship semifinal is already the stuff of legend.

His gutty finish helped Texas reach Wednesday’s final, where, unfortunately, Hossler’s availability to play was immediately uncertain and remains so as he deals with the injury.

The magic was strong in the semis, though. Hossler first injured his shoulder on an approach shot at the par-5 15th and displayed significant pain on every full shot thereafter. Somehow, he managed to chip in for birdie on the par-3 16th, and then his most epic moment.

In a greenside bunker and in too much pain to even make a wedge swing, Hossler PUTTED from the sand. Pretty good shot, too, as he sent the ball 30 feet by the hole.

Impressive enough stuff already, but then he did something more incredible… he holed the putt for a miraculous up-and-down par to win his match and send Texas to the finals against Oregon.

Maybe Hossler plays today, maybe not. Regardless, he’s left his mark on this tournament.
