PXG Gunboat Darkness Putters

Parsons Xtreme Golf (PXG) has released a blacked-out, limited-edition version of its Gunboat mallet-style putter called the Gunboat Darkness. The putters went on sale on Black Friday, Nov. 25.

The Gunboat putters, part of PXG’s Milled insert family, are high-MOI mallets that are face-balanced and ideally suited for golfers who have a straight-back, straight-through stroke, as well as players who want to maximize stability.

Milled from 303 stainless steel and aircraft-grade aluminum, the Gunboat putters feature titanium and tungsten screws that are adjustable, so golfers can modify the swing weight and feel to match their stroke.

The insert is made from 304 stainless steel and thermoplastic elastomer backing that softens feel with the consistency and responsiveness of a non-insert putter.

The original Gunboat putters were available in either a chrome finish with black trim or black finish with chrome trim. The Darkness edition is all black with a black shaft and grip.

Darkness is a nickname for PXG’s founder and owner, Bob Parsons, who has a penchant for dressing in black clothes.

A triangle and skull with the number 26 have been laser-milled on the sole. That symbol represents the 26th Marine Corps Regiment, in which Parsons served during the Vietnam War.

A total of 560 Gunboat Darkness putters are being made. There are putters available for both right- and left-handed players, in both a single shaft-bend version and a heel-shafted version (Gunboat Darkness H) for $750.
