TIGER TRACKER

Hole No. 9: Par 5, 556 yards

Tiger needs albatross here and then cut move to +1 to move on to the weekend. This won’t happen, to be clear.

OFF THE TEE (5:07 p.m. ET): Perfect booming drive with some anger behind it. That one was smoked down the middle. Where was that all week?

SECOND SHOT (5:14 p.m. ET): And Tiger undoes his great drive with a weak second that fades well right. He’ll have a difficult time getting up and down for birdie.

AROUND THE GREEN (5:20 p.m. ET): Good pitch once again, as Woods knocks it 10 feet beyond pin. Will have that for birdie.

ON THE GREEN (5:25 p.m. ET): Nope, closing par. Disappointment

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even-par 72, 4 over total (T-109)

Hole No. 8: Par 3, 214 yards

This is a long par 3. Tiger needs to make a hole-in-one and then eagle that par-5 ninth to make the cut. That’s where we’re at now.

OFF THE TEE (4:58 p.m. ET): Great shot, Tiger! He puts this one right over the flag. He has 12 feet for birdie.

ON THE GREEN (5:03 p.m. ET): He needed that to get to 3 over and an eagle at the last could’ve gotten him to 1 over and slim chance to make the cut. Nope, putt tails off, that’s par, and Tiger’s hopes are dead.

TIGER ON THE DAY: E thru 17, 4 over for the tournament (T-111)

Hole No. 7: Par 4, 322 yards

This is a short par 4. Tiger NEEDS a birdie or better here. If he makes par or worse, it’s over.

OFF THE TEE (4:42 p.m. ET): Tiger lays up here at the seventh but finds the fairway.

SECOND SHOT (4:48 p.m. ET): Not a great approach from Tiger. He’ll need to chip in for birdie now.

AROUND THE GREEN (4:50 p.m. ET): Another good chip, but at this point, he needs all birdies or better. This will be a tap-in par, but nothing more.

ON THE GREEN (4:52 p.m. ET): Tap-in par, indeed.

TIGER ON THE DAY: E thru 16, 4 over for the tournament (T-108)

Hole No. 6: Par 4, 416 yards

OFF THE TEE (4:20 p.m. ET): Cameras didn’t see that one, it seems. Maybe Tiger’s in the fairway?

SECOND SHOT (4:26 p.m. ET): Well, Tiger was in the fairway, but he hits a poor second shot from 136 yards that ends up short of the green.

AROUND THE GREEN (4:32 p.m. ET): Tiger’s short game has looked good this week. Another beauty of a short game shot as he chips up to about 3 feet. Should make par.

ON THE GREEN (4:36 p.m. ET): Yep, par for Tiger. The end is near.

TIGER ON THE DAY: E thru 15, 4 over for the tournament (T-112)

Hole No. 5: Par 5, 525 yards

OFF THE TEE (4:06 p.m. ET): This one was leaning right but it’s in the fairway! If he doesn’t eagle here, we’re saying no chance he has a run at the cut down the stretch.

SECOND SHOT (4:12 p.m. ET): We had such hope for a second there. Woods’ shot from 230 yards was all over the flag and he loved it, but hole is downwind, land just passes hole and bounces all the way over green.

AROUND THE GREEN (4:16 p.m. ET): Beautiful chip from Tiger here, almost holes it. That would have been a big eagle. Still it will be a simple birdie.

ON THE GREEN (4:19 p.m. ET): Finally, his first birdie since his opening hole of the day. Tiger will need a lot more to make cut, though.

TIGER ON THE DAY: E thru 14, 4 over for the tournament (T-112)

Hole No. 4: Par 4, 479 yards

OFF THE TEE (3:53 p.m. ET): Fine tee shot from Tiger. Right down the middle.

APPROACH SHOT (3:56 p.m. ET): Again, not good. This one is pulled and long. It’s technically on the green, we think, but he’ll have some 50 feet for birdie.

ON THE GREEN (4:02 p.m. ET): Tiger hits a good lag putt from more like 70 feet. Had about 5 feet for par and drained it.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 over thru 13, 5 over for the tournament (T-129)

Hole No. 3: Par 3, 241 yards

Brutal par 3 today into the wind.

OFF THE TEE (3:40 p.m. ET): He hit that one well, but totally mis-clubbed. This one comes up well short into the wind. Hit 3-iron, maybe needed 3-WOOD!

AROUND THE GREEN (3:45 p.m. ET): Tiger plays a pitch-and-run, and that works out pretty well. Will leave himself 6 feet for par.

ON THE GREEN (3:50 p.m. ET): That might be the nail in the coffin. This one slides over the left edge and that bogey pushes Woods back to +5. Cut is Even. Tiger needs to play last six holes in -4 or -5 to make the weekend.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 over thru 12, 5 over for the tournament (T-131)

Hole No. 2: Par 4, 495 yards

This one is a brute. Woods still needs birdies but he really needs to make that happen at the easier Nos. 5-9 stretch.

OFF THE TEE (3:22 p.m. ET): Tiger’s going to be well back here on No. 2, but he is in the fairway.

APPROACH SHOT (3:25 p.m. ET): From 233 yards, that’s really solid. Actually went just right of the flag and rolls to back of green. He’ll have some 30 feet for birdie here.

ON THE GREEN (3:31 p.m. ET): That putt looked so good, but he gave it too much break. Lip-out on high left side, Tiger bends over in agony over that miss. Eighth straight par, but that birdie would have been huge.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 11, 4 over for the tournament (T-120)

Hole No. 1: Par 4, 421 yards

OFF THE TEE (3:05 p.m. ET): Welp, we have a miss significantly left at this hole. Rough.

APPROACH SHOT (3:11 p.m. ET): That’s what you get for hitting it in the rough. Tiger comes up short in the fairway. Will have pitch from right fairway to right pin.

AROUND THE GREEN (3:13 p.m. ET): Tiger’s pitch took a peek on the first hop but rolls some 7 feet by. That left for par.

ON THE GREEN (3:16 p.m. ET): Good putt. Good par. He couldn’t drop to 5 over. But now he needs a few birdies.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 10, 4 over for the tournament (T-120)

Hole No. 18: Par 4, 486 yards

Tiger needs birdies, but he should just look for a par on this long hole.

OFF THE TEE (2:53 p.m. ET): Good drive down the fairway here.

APPROACH SHOT (2:56 p.m. ET): Solid shot here to 25 feet. Actually not a bad look for birdie.

ON THE GREEN (3:01 p.m. ET): Just. Comes. Up. Short. Another freaking par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 9, 4 over for the tournament (T-123)

Hole No. 17: Par 5, 520 yards

OK, a par 5. Tiger really needs a birdie here. Just find the fairway, dude.

OFF THE TEE (2:33 p.m. ET): Ugh, nope. WAYYY RIGHT here. He can’t seem to get his driving under control. That right miss is killer

SECOND SHOT (2:39 p.m. ET): Looks like he took a wood from the rough after that bad drive. No dice. Hits it into bunker. He’ll have long shot from sand for third.

THIRD SHOT (2:44 p.m. ET): Bad position, bad shot. Tiger comes up short of green from long bunker spot.

AROUND THE GREEN (2:47 p.m. ET): Tiger pitches that up nicely to a couple of feet and should save par.

ON THE GREEN (2:50 p.m. ET): That’s another par, but TIGER NEEDS MORE.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 8, 4 over for the tournament (T-125)

Hole No. 16: Par 4, 393 yards

Could be a good birdie opportunity here.

OFF THE TEE (2:17 p.m. ET): Right down the middle off the tee! Yay!

SECOND SHOT (2:24 p.m. ET): He has a mid-range putt for birdie after a solid approach.

ON THE GREEN (2:29 p.m. ET): His putt comes up just short here. Another par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 7, 4 over for the tournament (T-124)

Hole No. 15: Par 3, 202 yards

A beautiful look from above thanks to our Jeff Babineau. Yes, hole’s really downhill but that may actually make it tougher.

OFF THE TEE (2:05 p.m. ET): Ho-hum tee shot for Tiger to about 35 feet. Probably another par.

ON THE GREEN (2:10 p.m. ET): Another par. But that’s not enough right now.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 6, 4 over for the tournament (T-127)

Hole No. 14: Par 4, 451 yards

A dogleg left that is more gettable than the distance suggests.

OFF THE TEE (1:46 p.m. ET): Live feed is struggle, not a ton of info on this hole.

SECOND SHOT (1:51 p.m. ET): OK, he hits his approach and it finds the green … but rolls some 60 feet away. He’ll do well to two-putt from there.

ON THE GREEN (1:55 p.m. ET): That’s par for Woods. Good two-putt, but he needs birdies ASAP.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 5, 4 over for the tournament (T-127)

Hole No. 13: Par 4, 459 yards

If Tiger can find the fairway, this could be a green-lighter.

OFF THE TEE (1:38 p.m. ET): His drive finds the fairway. He could be in good position here.

SECOND SHOT (1:41 p.m. ET): Solid shot, he leaves himself a decent 20-foot look at birdie.

ON THE GREEN (1:43 p.m. ET): Dang. His putt for birdie juuuuuust misses. That would’ve been big. He taps in for par, instead.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 4, 4 over for the tournament (T-131)

Hole No. 12: Par 3, 203 yards

This is a long par 3 where a par is all you want here.

OFF THE TEE (1:15 p.m. ET): Tiger airmails green on tee shot and he’s in the back bunker. A very difficult up and down awaits.

AROUND THE GREEN (1:19 p.m. ET): No bueno. Woods leaves himself some 35 feet for par here.

ON THE GREEN (1:26 p.m. ET): Tough ask for Tiger to make that putt. Not a bad two-putt, to be honest, but that is a bogey.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 3, 4 over for the tournament (T-131)

Hole No. 11: Par 4, 339 yards

Should be an easy par 4. Another good birdie chance.

OFF THE TEE (1:00 p.m. ET): Big drive at this hole leaves him a short wedge for his second shot. Big green-lighter here.

SECOND SHOT (1:05 p.m. ET): That’s a poor wedge, it goes short of the green in fact. Will need to get up and down for par.

AROUND THE GREEN (1:10 p.m. ET): Nice chip from Woods. Knocks it to 3 feet, should be par.

ON THE GREEN (1:12 p.m. ET): Yep, cleans it up. Poor approach, but good par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 under thru 2, 3 over for the tournament (T-127)

Hole No. 10: Par 5, 536 yards

Pretty simple par 5, reachable in two for sure.

OFF THE TEE (12:35 p.m. ET): Hoo boy, another missed fairway right for Woods. Off to an inauspicious start.

SECOND SHOT (12:42 p.m. ET): Tiger actually could still reach the green, but he can’t stop it from the rough. He’ll be pitching for his eagle.

AROUND THE GREEN (12:48 p.m. ET): Tiger hits a nice shot to 10 feet. Good look at birdie coming.

ON THE GREEN (12:53 p.m. ET): BOOM! Birdie! Tiger opens with birdie thanks to a beautiful up and down. Great start!

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 under thru 1, 3 over for the tournament (T-127)
