Lifelong North Carolina fan Peter Fountain (2020) commits to Tar Heels

When Peter Fountain was offered a golf scholarship by North Carolina, he felt no need to visit any other school.

“I’ve been a Carolina fan all my life,” said Fountain, a 15-year-old from Raleigh, N.C., and member of the Class of 2020, who is now verbally committed to the Tar Heels.

Fountain got to know North Carolina coaches Andrew Sapp and Andrew DiBitetto while attending UNC’s summer golf camps. His brother Preyer is a sophomore on the Tar Heels golf team and his other brother Richard played college golf at Davidson but worked as a counselor at one of UNC’s golf camps.

“So I am pretty familiar with the golf program,” Fountain said. “My plan was to visit schools last summer, but when Coach Sapp offered me on an unofficial visit last summer, I knew I wanted to be a Tar Heel. Carolina is such a great academic school and has a great golf program. And I am so excited to have the opportunity get to play for and learn from Coach Sapp.”
