Who holds the honor of earning his first Web.com Tour in the most amazing fashion? Ethan Tracy, and it won’t soon be topped.
Tracy closed the Web.com Tour’s Club Colombia Championship birdie-eagle, a Sunday salvo that earned him a 6-under 65 and a spot in a playoff with Roberto Diaz.
But him even getting into extra holes required a miracle. Diaz was in the clubhouse at 13 under as Tracy stood over his third shot at the par-5 18th at Bogota Country Club two shots back of that number.
At this point, it was hole the shot for eagle or lose. So Tracy, incredibly, stepped up and drained the approach for the tying 3.
Un-bel-ievable. Seriously, what are the odds? That has to rank up there among the most clutch shots in golf history. Tracy backed it up, too, taking advantage by burying a 20-footer for birdie on the second playoff hole to close things out.
Tracy, 27, turned pro in 2012 after a college career at Arkansas and has had starts on four different PGA Tour-affiliated circuits. Since 2015, Tracy has played in 18 Mackenzie Tour, seven PGA Tour Latinoamerica, four PGA Tour and four Web.com Tour events.
Now, he has a Web.com victory, and one of the best first-time winner’s stories in the sport. What a Sunday for Tracy. All we can say is, this dude should go buy a lottery ticket as soon as possible.
