VIDEO: Phil Mickelson hits grandstands, still holes out for eagle at Genesis Open

Oh Phil, you magnificent short-game wizard.

Mickelson is on fire early at the Genesis Open, reaching 5 under through 10 holes and the solo lead in the first round at Riviera Country Club.

He did it with some help from an eagle at the par-5 17th (his eighth hole of the day). Mickelson actually hit the grandstands to the left with his second shot.

But his ball ended up OK in some greenside rough, and Mickelson took advantage, holing out for a big three.

Lefty never quits with his prowess around the greens. It’s worth noting, too, that it was recently announced that Mickelson would be designing Arizona State’s short-game facility.

Couldn’t think of a better man to do it, as the video above supports.
