Oregon cruises to 21-shot victory at Bandon Dunes Championship

The Oregon Ducks rule Bandon Dunes.

The defending national champions posted the day’s lowest round at the Bandon Dunes Championship for the third straight day, firing a 12-under 276 at Old MacDonald to close out a 21-shot victory.

In a week where only four teams broke par, the No. 14 Ducks blitzed the Oregon layout over three days to the tune of 28 under. The victory is the third of the season, which means Oregon has now won more times in 2016-17 than the 2015-16 national championship year.

Leading the Ducks for the week were a pair in a tie for second.

Wyndham Clark, No. 2 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings and one of the favorites for the Haskins Award Presented by Stifel, and sophomore Edwin Yi closed in 4-under 68 to post at 8 under for the week.

Oregon sophomore Ryan Gronlund finished fourth for the week at 7 under. No Ducks starter finished outside the top 20 for the week.

The individual title went to Texas Tech’s Hannes Ronneblad, who led wire-to-wire on his way to 10 under and a two-shot win. The No. 9 Red Raiders finished second at 7 under.

Oregon State placed third at 6 under, while No. 21 Colorado finished fourth at 4 under.
