Danny Willett withdraws from Arnold Palmer Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. – Danny Willett is heading home early at Bay Hill.

Willett, the defending Masters champ, will have one less tournament to get ready for Augusta National as he withdrew Thursday before his first round citing an illness.

With Willett withdrawing, Blayne Barber will make his third API start. Barber missed the cut last year after tying for 49th in his debut in 2015. Willett’s only API start came in 2015 when he tied for 29th.
