What Marc Leishman said after winning the 2017 Arnold Palmer Invitational

It was a stunning late eagle at Bay Hill Club & Lodge’s par-5 16th that got the job done for Marc Leishman.

The 33-year-old Aussie captured the Arnold Palmer Invitational by one shot for his second career PGA Tour win.

Here’s what Leishman said after the victory:

“Around here, things can change so quick. You don’t have to hit that bad a shot to make bogeys out there, so you’ve just got to stay right in it, not think about what’s the end result.”

“I holed two good putts there on the last few holes, and they all went in the middle of the hole, which is nice. Obviously would’ve liked them a little shorter but it was a nice day.”

“I put the new Callaway Epic Driver in at the start of the year and it’s really been a game changer. I’ve been driving it better than I ever have. It’s funny, this game’s a lot easier out of the fairway.”

“The putter’s been amazing this year. The stats probably show that, especially this week. But all year it’s been really close.”

“It’s obviously a really special week. Mr. Palmer was an awesome guy who I was lucky enough to meet a few times at this tournament. So to honor him is huge. Another reason why it’s so special this week is this is the first time I’ve won a tournament with me family here. To have (wife) Audrey and the boys here to be able to run out on the green … it all came together.”

“To do it here, especially in a Presidents Cup year as well, I’m outside those standings, to get back inside those is really good. And I guess the Masters, too, I wasn’t in there. It’s just an unbelievable day.”
