Arizona State placed four players inside the top 6 en route to a convincing victory Sunday at the Clover Cup.
The event was hosted by Notre Dame but took place at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., and the Sun Devils took advantage. (Tempe is just 20 minutes from Mesa.) Sophomore Linnea Strom shot 9-under 207 to finish second, senior Monica Vaughn was third at 8 under and junior Sophia Zeeb placed fourth at 6 under. Add in freshman Olivia Mehaffey, T-6 at 3 under, and ASU turned in a complete team performance, shooting 26 under through three rounds to win by 13 shots over Oklahoma.
Even sophomore Madison Kerley (1 over) and junior Roberta Liti (3 over) finished in the top 16.
Arizona State is ranked fourth in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings – and it beat No. 2 Florida State by 15 shots at Longbow. Sunday’s win marks the second victory for the Sun Devils this season.
Oklahoma’s Julienne Soo shot 13 under to capture medalist honors for the runner-up Sooners.
