Masters 2017: Couple gets engaged on No. 12 at Augusta

IM GONNA BE A THOMPSON!!! 💍 #heputaringonit #mastersweek #augustanational

Benji Thompson and Regan Joy Askin will not win any green jackets this weekend, but Askin did earn a green light to pick up a wedding dress after the couple got engaged on the 12th tee this past week.

The two made their golf-themed entry onto the endless list of usually-over-the-top engagement videos from the No. 12. It was – surprise, surprise – rather subdued – and not surprise – shared on social media.

Thankfully cameras are allowed on the course before competition begins.

Thompson is a caddie and carried the bag for the LPGA’s Lexi Thompson (no relation) until last year.

Just living in a fairytale 😊

According to Golf Digest, Thompson spent months planning the proposal and had some help from pro golfer Kevin Kisner.

From the bride-to-be: “When we got on the tee and we’re getting ready to take the pic, Benji said, ‘Hey I got to ask you a question first.’ Then he got down on one knee and then looked at Dewey and said, ‘Hey caddie, do you have something for me?’ Dewey gave him the ring and then he proposed.

“It was a 100 percent complete surprise and had learned it had been planned for months by Kisner and Dewey with Benji!”
