Tee times, pairings: 2017 NCAA Women's Championship, Round 1

The NCAA Women’s Championship is almost here!

Below are the tee times and pairings for Round 1 of the 2017 NCAA Women’s Championship at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. (All times Central)

Before we get into that, though, here are the five groupings Friday to look out for.

1. Andrea Lee, Cheyenne Knight, Kelly Grassel

The top freshman in the nation (Lee) and one of the top sophomores (Knight). Grassel is no slouch herself, as the Gators senior win the SALLY in January as well as her regional. She’s currently a top 25 player in the country. But Stanford’s Lee sits at No. 2 and Alabama’s Knight is No. 3. An incredible amount of young talent to watch out for here.

2. Leona Maguire, Katelyn Dambaugh, Natalie Srinivasan

The front-runner for the ANNIKA Award Presented by 3M, Maguire enters NCAAs the No. 1 player in the nation. That’s plenty of intrigue, but Dambaugh complements that with her own top-10 status. She’s a big game hunter, too, winning a regional last year and the SEC Championship last month. No grouping has more veteran firepower than this one.

3. Kristen Gillman, Albane Valenzuela, Maria Torres

Not quite the underclassmen talent duo of Lee and Knight, but Gillman (Alabama) and Valenzuela (Stanford) are up there. Valenzuela has already competed in the Olympics and won her regional – Valenzuela’s first college victory – this month. Gillman earned her first college win at the Bryan National Collegiate and has finished top 7 in her last four starts. Both are freshmen, by the way. Torres, a Florida senior, has done plenty herself, most recently earning back-to-back wins this spring.

4. Casey Danielson, Lauren Stephenson, Marta Perez

Two top-12 players in the country here in Danielson (Stanford) and Stephenson (Alabama) … noticing a theme? Perez has shone as a freshman at Florida, as she’s already No. 64 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.

5. Linnea Strom, Morgane Metraux, Tiffany Chan

Chan’s an Olympian, Strom is a top-10 player in the country even as a sophomore, and Metraux has had a breakout three-win 2016-17 campaign. A lot to ponder with this trio.

Anyway, onto tee times, with some notes:

x-playing as individuals

y-BYU’s Alex White will play her third round Thursday (after practice round for rest of field finishes up) and her first and second rounds Friday and Saturday due to school’s no competition on Sunday policy
