NCAA men’s regionals finalized: Florida, UCLA, Oklahoma State top-seeded

Florida, UCLA and Oklahoma State were named top-seeded teams in each region for the NCAA Division I Men’s Regionals, the NCAA Golf Committee announced May 10.

Florida, No. 1 throughout the majority of the season in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings and winner of seven tournaments this season, heads the East field at Yale Golf Club in New Haven, Conn., while UCLA leads the West at the Crosswater Club in Sun River, Ore. Oklahoma State will be seeded No. 1 at the Birck Boilermaker Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Ind., for the Central Regional.

All three regionals will be played May 20-22. The top 10 teams and low two individuals in each region advance to the NCAA finals June 1-4 at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va.

The East Regional has 11 of the top 30 teams in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, with four of those ranked in the top 10 and four from Nos. 11-20. The Central has eight top-30 teams, three of which are in the top 10 and two in Nos. 11-20. In the West, there are 11 top 30 teams, three of those ranking in the top 10 and four from Nos. 11-20.

Defending NCAA champion Clemson, ranked No. 2, will compete in the East Regional.

Of the top 65 teams in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, only six failed to gain a regional invitation – No. 55 Northwestern, No. 58 Texas-San Antonio, No. 59 Southeast Louisiana, No. 60 Alabama, No. 64 North Texas and No. 65 North Florida. readers: We value your input and welcome your comments, but please be respectful in this forum.
