Michelob expands LPGA sponsorship
Monday, April 13, 2009
The Duramed Futures Tour and Anheuser-Busch announced April 13 that Michelob Ultra will be the circuit’s official beer sponsor this season.
The agreement is an expansion of Anheuser-Busch’s partnership with the LPGA, which acquired the developmental tour in 2007. Anheuser-Busch has been the LPGA’s official beer sponsor since 1994.
The sponsorship primarily enables Anheuser-Busch to reach active lifestyle golf fans who reside in Duramed Futures Tour tournament host cities. The deal calls for displaying the Michelob Ultra logo on tournament signage as well as on the Duramed Futures Tour Mobile Office trailer that travels to every tournament.
In addition, Anheuser-Busch will have the opportunity to provide product and promotional items for various events and functions on tour, including co-promotions at the Greater Richmond Duramed Futures Classic and the LPGA’s Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill.
“It’s a natural fit for us to partner with the Duramed FUTURES Tour, considering how closely the two tours now function,” said Dan McHugh, vice president, media, sponsorship and activation for Anheuser-Busch. “They are developing the future stars of the LPGA Tour and we are happy to be a part of it.”
The company also provides the title sponsor of the Michelob Ultra Duramed Futures Players Championship, the tour’s only 72-hole tournament.
