JEFF BABINEAU

Best bet: Hunter Mahan. A year ago, this was a golden time for a new force (read: Camilo Villegas) to step up, was it not? Well, Hunter Mahan, here in the Big Apple, this is your time to shine!

Ace up my sleeve: Padraig Harrington. The guy definitely has figured something out, and as long as he can keep those pitch shots from making rings in the water, should be fine.

• • •

JIM MCCABE

Best bet: Tiger Woods. There is no better way to combat the dreaded Y.E. Yang Hangover than to win a playoff opener. And it matters very little that he's never seen the course before. Chances are, none of them will see it again.

Ace up my sleeve: Angel Cabrera. Something about a 487-yard par-4 finishing hole and 7,400 total yards makes me latch on to the big man from Argentina.

• • •

SEAN MARTIN

Best bet: Lucas Glover. He likes New York, so here’s hoping some good vibes – and recent good play – will carry him to a win.

Ace up my sleeve: Michael Allen. Let's make his first PGA Tour victory a FedEx Cup event. Now that would be a good story.

• • •

ALEX MICELI

Best bet: Tiger Woods. Not sure how you don't pick Tiger. Never seen Liberty National, which may be a reason, but when you're No. 1, ites hard to pick against him.

Ace up my sleeve: Stewart Cink. Why the British Open winner is not in the top 50 is hard to understand, but he's not – so he's my pick.

• • •

LANCE RINGLER

Best Bet: Tiger Woods, period.

Ace up my sleeve: No real reason, but I like Stewart Cink to make a little bit of noise in the playoffs.

• • •

JEFF RUDE

Best bet: Hunter Mahan. Will leave no doubt that Fred Couples should pick him for Presidents Cup.

Ace up my sleeve: Stewart Cink. Big-time player who happens to be ranked outside our top 50.

• • •

ERIC SODERSTROM

Best bet: Tiger Woods. Let’s get this out of the way. I still have four available starts for Woods, and I’m going to use them all. I am also predicting he banks one off the Statue of Liberty for an eagle.

Ace up my sleeve: Todd Hamilton. A links course in the middle of Manhattan? Just like Royal Troon! Uh... yeah. (But seriously, Hamilton told me he feels really good about his swing and if he can just get his putting together could have a big week. It’s as big of a roll of the dice as you can get, but I’m sticking to the plan. Like I have anything to lose down here.)
