Goydos delivers in Round 1 at Barclays
The headline should read redundantly: Sunshine Shines on Day 1 Again.
After all, Paul “Sunshine” Goydos is nothing if not Mr. First Round, at least this year.
Goydos was at it again today. He shot an opening-round 65 at The Barclays, good for a share of the lead.
That isn’t his best of the season, though. He opened with 63 at both the Valero Texas Open and Travelers Championship. He went on to tie for third at Texas and for second at the Travelers.
His scores have tended to get a bit worse on the weekend. He ranks 82nd on the PGA Tour in scoring average before the cut but 151st in Round 3 and 144th in the final round.
