Zambri to coach U.S. at 2010 Palmer Cup

Wednesday, December 9, 2009

USC men’s coach Chris Zambri was named the United States coach for the 2010 Palmer Cup.

The event will be held in Northern Ireland, June 24-26, 2010.

Zambri, a former USC All-Pac-10 performer and longtime Nationwide Tour veteran, is in his fourth year as head coach of the Trojans. He led USC to the NCAA Championship appearances in his first three years.

In 2009, the Trojans were among eight teams to advance to match play at the NCAA Championship. USC won two events and had 10 top-5 finishes.

Zambri was the recipient of the 2008 Dave Williams Award as national coach of the year, the Eaton Golf Pride West Region Coach of the Year and the Pac-10 Coach of the Year.

Two of Zambri’s golfers at USC have previously played in the Palmer Cup. Jamie Lovemark was a member of the winning USA team at Caves Valley in 2007 while Tim Sluiter helped lead Europe to victory in 2008 at Glasgow Golf Club Gailes Links and at Cherry Hills in 2009.

The Palmer Cup series is even at 6-6-1.
