Inkster turns to shrink
Friday, June 12, 2009
HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. – Everyone knows Juli Inkster is a grinder. So to see her bring it back from 4 over to even par during Round 2 of the McDonald’s LPGA Championship isn’t a great surprise.
What is interesting, however, is that she used Cristie Kerr’s shrink to get there.
“I was just in a block with my putting,” said Inkster, who talked to Bob Parent, author of Zen Golf, to free up her mind. Inkster hadn’t used a sports psychologist since she talked to Bob Rotella in the days before kids.
“I’m my own worst enemy,” she said. “I’m trying to be a little easier on myself.”
