After setting a course record with an opening-round 67, 18-year-old Isabelle Lendl finished at 4-under 212 to win the 98th Women’s Eastern Amateur Championship in Wintergreen, Va.
Lendl closed with a 2-under 70 to put the finishing touches on a four-shot victory over Brittany Altomare and Kristina Wong.
Wong carried a three-shot lead over Lendl in the final round after a birdie at the 10th hole, but it began to slip away. Lendl made birdie at the 12th to cut the deficit to two. She then followed with another at the 13th, while Wong suffered a three-putt bogey.
Lendl took the lead for good at the par-3 14th, where she was able to put her tee shot inside 12 feet. Wong’s ball found the water and she eventually finished with a final-round 76.
