Creighton names Wiemers men’s coach

Teaching pro Chris Wiemers has been named head men’s coach at Creighton, the school announced Friday. Wiemers replaces Bob Hanson, who resigned in late April after two seasons with the program.
Wiermers has spent the past three years as head teaching professional at Happy Hollow Club in Omaha, Neb. Before Happy Hollow, he was head pro and general manager at Eagle Run Golf Course for eight years.
A native of McCook, Neb., Wiemers tied for 12th at the 2006 PGA of America’s Professional National Championship and played in the 2005 and ’06 PGA Championship.
The Blue Jays finished the 2008-09 season No. 227 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Ranking and placed ninth out of nine teams in the Misouri Valley Conference Championship.
