Crowd remembers Hamilton's British Open win
Saturday, June 20, 2009
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – As he pushed off from the first tee at 6:50 p.m. to begin his twilight third round, there was a gray sky, pounding rain, and a question from the audience.
“Hey, Todd,” bellowed a New Yawkah, “what year did you win the British Open?”
From beneath his umbrella, Hamilton flashed four fingers to the stands – indicating that the memorable year was 2004.
Unfortunately, Hamilton was down the slope and onto the first fairway in a hurry, so there wasn’t time for any other questions.
