Back-to-back bogeys for Barnes
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Ricky Barnes appears to be feeling the pressure of leading the U.S. Open. Barnes has made back-to-back bogeys – the final hole of the third round and the first hole of the fourth round.
They’re hours apart, but the emotions were the same. After Barnes missed a 4-foot par putt at Bethpage’s 18th, he rushed off the green, failing to remove his cap when shaking hands with playing partner Lucas Glover and his caddie. He put his hand on his forehead in disbelief.
Barnes made a sloppy bogey on the first hole tonight, going from rough to rough before missing a 30-foot par putt.
As I write this, Barnes has just hit his tee shot left of left into the waist-high grass on No. 2.
